Councillors will discuss future housing plans with residents at a meeting at Pool-in-Wharfedale Village Hall at 7pm on Wednesday, June 5.
Councillors Barry Anderson, Clive Fox and Les Carter (all Con, Adel & Wharfedale) will discuss the future development plan being considered by Leeds City Council, which includes a number of potential housing sites in Wharfedale – including on the western edge of Pool.
The city council is under pressure to produce about 5,000 new houses per year for the next 15 years, but fears are growing that the plan could lead to the loss of green fields and place an unsustainable burden on local infrastructure.
Coun Fox believes the plan as it stands would see the Outer North West segment of Leeds, which includes Otley, Pool and Bramhope, get 1,017 new houses, while Aireborough would get 1,548 and the North segment, including Horsforth, 3,035.
