Tea parties are being held to mark the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Aware-ness Week, which runs until Saturday.

Bradford Teaching Hosp-itals is holding the celebrations at its three dementia-friendly wards for patients, staff and carers.

The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘talking’, with the message that worrying changes nothing, but talking can change everything.

Dementia project manager Sister Danielle Woods, who is based on the Bradford Royal Infirmary’s ward 30 for elderly care, said: “It’s heart-breaking to see the decline of a loved one who has dementia “But talking about your hopes and fears can really make a difference for carers and patients.”
