A care home is to close because its owners say it is not making enough money.

Elderhomes Group has announced the closure of its Beckcroft Residential Care Home in Bingley after 20 years.

A statement from the firm said the decision was difficult, but it was no longer financially viable to keep it open.

An action plan for a 28-day closure program has been put in place.

All 11 residents, who age from 74 to 103, have been offered a place at Duchess Gardens, owned by the same company, and also in Bingley, or help to find other accommodation.

David Messenger, managing director of Elderhomes Group, said: “Closing our Beckcroft home was a difficult decision to make, but a necessary one.

"The health and welfare of our residents remains our highest priority at all times, and we will ensure that our residents continue to receive the highest standards of care and attention available to them.

“We are pleased that the closure of the home will not lead to any redundancies of our staff, and we hope that the move to Duchess Gardens will not cause too much inconvenience for all concerned.

“Duchess Gardens has just completed an extensive refurbishment programme, including a new coffee lounge and day centre and residents will be able to enjoy the home’s up-to-date facilities.

"The new staff will be integrated into a warm, friendly and hardworking team and we look forward to their arrival.”

The Beckcroft property will be restored back to a residential home.
