A gloomy weather forecast failed to dampen spirits of the thousands of revellers who attended some of the district’s biggest annual events at the weekend.
Organisers of Haworth 1940s Weekend say it attracted record crowds and expect final figures to show tens of thousands of people attended the two day event, which this year celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Dambusters raid.
Despite rain on Saturday morning, the weather mostly held out, much to the relief of the hundreds of people who attended in 40s fancy dress. Clear weather on the Sunday also meant that a planned flypast by a Hurricane and Spitfire went ahead. The Bronte Parsonage car park was turned into an airbase, featuring a Dambusters exhibition and military vehicles.
Any profits will go to the Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Family Association.
