A Bradford city centre nightclub could be shut down permanently after a string of violent incidents, including two stabbings.

Police say Club C’s could attract revenge attacks – even a killing – if it remains open.

The club, in Sackville Street, had its licence temporarily suspended on May 1, pending a full review. It followed a number of violent crimes since February, including stabbings in the early hours of April 14 and April 27, and an assault on April 6.

Councillors on the Bradford District Licensing Panel will meet on Friday to decide whether to revoke the licence permanently or remove club boss Neal Allen as licensee. Minutes of the May 1 meeting reveal Mr Allen said he believed the troublemakers were from Leeds, and that on April 27 he had asked for everyone coming into the club to be searched, but the door staff had not done so.

But the police accused Mr Allen of passing the blame on to others. They said they feared reprisals and warned there could be a death at the club next time.

The police have now prepared a dossier on their concerns over the club, which is not being made public ”due to ongoing police inquiries and to protect the identity of individuals”. Last week, Mr Allen told the Telegraph & Argus he was doing whatever it takes to stop outbreaks of violence at his premises.

He said: “We have had four incidents in a month and I don’t know what is behind them. But this is not a club that experiences violence every week. We would like to see the panel’s decision reversed.

“I am introducing measures to improve things. It is my duty to stop anything happening inside that place.

“We are not here to spread violence. The infra red cameras I am introducing will show people’s faces and the colour of their clothes and that will be handed over to police.”

Currently, the licence allows the club to open until 4.30am Sundays to Wednesdays, 5.30am on Thursdays, and 8am on Fridays and Saturdays.
