The annual Lord Mayor's Parade brought some much needed sunshine to an otherwise overcast day in Bradford today.

The parade was the final event in Lord Mayor, Councillor Dale Smith's year in office, and took the theme of his Sprinkle Sunshine appeal.

Hundreds of participants from schools, bands and community groups, dressed for the occasion, with costumes ranging from Egyptian sun gods to bumble bees.

Although the turnout was hit by a mix of bad weather earlier in the morning and the Bradford City's play-off final at Wembley, the parade still delighted hundreds of passers by as it weaves its way through the city centre.

Luckily the rain held off for the parade.

Gwenna Catt, one of the artists behind the costume designs, said: "I'm happy the rain has stopped, it could have been a bit of a washout. The Sprinkle Sunshine theme is really good for a grey day like this."
