A charity auction for Keighley Rugby Union Club has raised more than £6,000.
Club members and supporters made big bids for a host of prizes at the clubhouse in Utley. One bid, for a four-person hospitality package at Manchester United, brought in more than £1,000.
The family event was organised by Ken Dyson, a club committee member and former player and coach, who was also the auctioneer. He said the event raised so much money because of the quality of the prizes, which were donated by members, supporters, local businesses and parents of young players. Several former players who have gone on play for bigger clubs donated rugby shirts and tickets.
Mr Dyson said: “The auction takes two years to organise. It’s very much a a family affair. It’s been magnificent.”
