High school students got on their bikes and joined forces with the police to help publicise a cycling event in Leeds.
Students from Benton Park School in Rawdon rode into the city along the canal to promote the Sky Ride event planned for July. The pupils, who are members of the school’s cycle club, were accompanied on their journey by PCSOs Liam Ward and Mark Kelly, as well as Leeds Road Safety representatives. Leeds centre is expected to be filled with thousands of people this July as the city hosts a free family-oriented mass-participation Sky Ride for the first time. Tthe city centre will become traffic-free on July 7. Sky Ride will also form part of the ‘one year to go’ celebrations when Leeds welcomes the Tour de France.
