A teenager from Idle has been selected to represent the United Kingdom in the Royal Life-Saving Society’s Commonwealth Championships in Australia.
Sam Lawman, a member of Bradford Council’s Swimming Training Scheme for the last two-and-a-half years, will compete against swimmers from more than 40 countries in Canberra in September.
The 18-year-old, who is also a member of Bradford Aquatics’ Swimming Talent Scheme, will participate alongside Richard Thompson, who was a member of Bradford’s Swimming Training Scheme from 2008-10. Coun Andrew Thornton Bradford Council’s Executive Member responsible for Sport, said: “This is a testament to the dedication they have shown to their sport.”
