Firefighters prevented a blaze in an allotment shed from spreading to other nearby wooden buildings in Bradford last night.

The fire service received a call at 10.40pm that a structure at the Cecil Avenue allotments in Great Horton was ablaze.

An engine from Odsal fire station attended and found a large shed containing wood on fire. Although they contained the fire using a hose, the shed was destroyed.

Watch commander Andy Mason said: “Luckily we managed to stop it from spreading to other sheds on the site.

“We have a team investigating but at the moment it is looking suspicious.”
