Residents in Scholemoor and Lidget Green are getting closer to spending £1m on making positive changes in their community.

A series of drop-in sessions are being organised to give people a chance to see how their ideas have been drawn up into a plan ready to go before the Big Lottery Fund.

A team of volunteers carried out interviews with groups and residents to find out what were the top issues, challenges, concerns and opportunities that needed tackling. Drugs, unemployment, a lack of play areas, resources for older people and too many cars parked on streets were some of the priorities identified.

A community board of residents was also set up to help steer the plan forward and nominations are open until the end of this month for more people to join them.

As well as drawing up the the Big Local plan, the board has commissioned Bradford Community Environmental Project to start an environmental project to deal with fly tipping and litter. A day of action is in the planning and schools will be putting on an exhibition of junk art from rubbish they have cleaned up off the streets.
