Bradford Theatres’ orchestra seasons ends with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra (pictured), under one of Russia’s leading conductors, Pavel Kogan and featuring piano soloist Tatiana Kolesova.
The St George’s Hall concert starts with Tchaikovsky’s Polonaise and Waltz from Eugene Onegin and then Khachaturian’s Adagio from his ballet Spartacus – the theme from TV’s 1970s The Onedin Line. The finale is Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, known as the Pathetique. Reputedly the composer’s masterpiece, it was conducted by Tchaikovsky only a week before his death at the age of 53 in November, 1893, in St Petersburg.
The concert on Friday, May 24, starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12.50 to £26.50 (booking fees apply). They are obtainable from 01274 432000 or bradford-theatres.co.uk.
