A total of 78 people in Bradford aged over 60 contacted a debt charity last year owing on average almost £20,000.
StepChange Debt Charity revealed a rising number of older people are facing homelessness as they struggle with mortgage and rent arrears.
In 2012 in Bradford, the 78 people who rang the charity’s helpline owed an average of £19,492 in unsecured debt such as credit cards, loans and overdrafts.
StepChange didn’t have specific figures on mortgage and rent arrears debts for Bradford.
