More Scouts from Menston have won their Expedition Challenge badges after a weekend in the Yorkshire Dales.

The boys and girls, many aged 11, navigated from Settle, over crags and down into Malham, where they set up their tents and stoves and cooked their dinner – all under the direction of their 13-year-old team leaders. They also had an evening walk to the top of Malham Cove to watch the sun go down and played games.

Daniel Sellers, 11, said “It was beautiful, it’s an awesome place.”

After sunshine on Saturday, in contrast the Sunday morning dawned cold and wet outside the tents, but the Scouts continued onwards to Gargrave and caught the train home.

Menston Scouts’ next adventure is a six-day camp in the Forest of Bowland, where they will be camping, mountain biking, building rafts, tackling an underground maze, doing archery and air rifle shooting, and learning survival skills.
