A man has been taken to hospital after being talked out of jumping off a bridge in Cleckheaton tonight.
Specially-trained police officers were called to an old railway bridge over Westgate at 4.20pm.
A member of the public had spotted the man, believed to be aged in his late 40s, with his legs dangling over the edge. A police spokesman said the man was drinking alcohol.
Officers persuaded the man to come away from the edge and he was taken to hospital by ambulance for an assessment.
The spokesman added: “We had to stop traffic and there were minor disruptions.”
