A dog that snapped a delivery man’s forearm in two in a savage attack in Bradford is still under investigation, police said today.
Chris Hirst’s arm was left hanging by its skin after he was set upon by the American bulldog last month.
The 62-year-old was delivering medication to an address on Fairfax Crescent, Bierley, when the dog attacked.
The animal only stopped mauling Mr Hirst after being hit with a shovel 11 times by neighbour Danny Gomersall.
A police spokesman said: “We are still investigating the incident and the dog is still with the owner.”
Mr Hirst remains under treatment at Leeds General Infirmary following the attack.
He has undergone several operations as doctors battle to save his arm.
