A conga drum-playing artist who has worked on stage sets for The Rolling Stones and made a 65ft pig for Roger Water’s concert commemorating the demolition of the Berlin Wall is showing his work in Shipley.
Paintings by Phil Shepherd, of Haworth, are on show at the Hive’s pop-up gallery in Kirkgate market until May 25.
His colourful portraits include Amy Winehouse and other famous faces and are simplified versions of pictures sourced online.
The 79-year-old said: “If you can say something simply, rather than use a volley of words, it’s more direct, and it’s the same with paintings.”
The exhibition is open every Friday and Saturday, from 1pm-4pm and on Monday, May 13, to Wednesday, May 15, from 11am-2pm.
