New warning signs helped cut the amount of dog fouling on a footpath used by schoolchildren in Oakworth, Keighley.
A villager displayed the metre-high posters on railings and lampposts along the path near Dockroyd Lane.
The posters, which were funded by district councillors representing Worth Valley ward, urge dog owners to clean up after their pets.
Parish councillors, neighbourhood police and civic-minded residents are being asked to put up posters in problem areas and monitor their effectiveness.
In Craven Ward, Bradford Council clean teams have attached stickers to bins telling dog owners to "bag, tie and bin” their dog waste.
The stickers were produced as part of a programme of anti dog fouling activities led by the council's Area Co-ordinators office and ward councillors.
