A family did everything right when their chip pan caught fire, firefighters have said. The couple and their son, of Withens Close, Great Horton, Bradford, turned off the heat, shut the kitchen door and went outside to wait for fire crews to arrive at about 7.20pm on Saturday. Firefighters from Odsal fire station ventilated the room and removed the pan. Crew commander Carl Pearson said: “They did all the correct things.” He said the fire left the kitchen badly smoke-damaged.
