An Ilkley councillor has slammed Local Government Association (LGA) proposals which would open the door for authorities to abolish a 25 per cent council tax discount for single occupiers.
Councillor Anne Hawkesworth (Ind, Ilkley) claims “widow tax” proposals by the LGA are out of touch with reality.
“It is grossly unfair that there should be any possibility of a single person having to pay the full council tax,” said Coun Hawkesworth (pictured).
