A former problem pub in Bradford will get a new lease of life tonight when it re-opens as a real ale venue.
The Wyke Rose, now a free house under new licensees Tom and Michelle Marrow, will open its doors at 6pm.
Mrs Marrow said the revamped pub in Huddersfield Road would offer “something different”, and added: “There will be six real ales all the time and a range of continental lagers.
“We are trying to keep away from the mainstream beers that others are doing in the area. We have gone for an alternative.”
The couple, who have had the pub for six weeks, have been in the trade for 20 years and used to run the Myra Shay pub in Barkerend.
Mrs Marrow said they were glad to be back in Bradford, and especially in Wyke. She said: “I hope we get a good mix of people in. We are really looking forward to it now. We are raring to go.”
Last November, the Telegraph & Argus reported how the Wyke Rose was set to close for a month after complaints from residents about loud music and Bradford Council called for the licence to be reviewed.
