An 81-year-old is one of two men up for a police award after he helped hold on to a man seen climbing through a house window.
The 81-year-old and a 58-year-old grabbed the man as he clambered back out of the home in Hammond Square, Heaton, on May 1.
The pair kept hold of the suspect until police arrived.
A 20-year-old man was arrested and admitted climbing in to the house to look for things to steal. He was charged with burglary and will appear at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court later this month.
Sergeant Alex Artis said: “This is a superb example of two community-spirited men doing something fantastic to make their neighbourhood a better place to live.
“As a result of their actions I have nominated them for a police commendation.”
