A burglar who raided a veterinary surgery at dead of night after twice being bailed for shoplifting has been jailed for 14 months.
A judge told Joseph Reid he had “a truly dreadful record” for offences.
Reid, 31, appeared at Bradford Crown Court in custody yesterday after he was caught burgling Gatehouse Veterinary Surgery, in Allerton Road, Allerton, Bradford, on April 5. He was taking a charity box, dog clippers and an oxygen cylinder when the police arrived to arrest him.
Reid, of Allerton Road, had already been freed on bail twice for stealing.
He was apprehended after being caught on CCTV sneaking almost £300 of jewellery out of a cabinet at H Samuel in Bradford city centre on December 29 last year.
Released on police bail, he was spotted stealing £83 of shaving equipment from Asda in Lidget Green, Bradford, on March 27.
The offences put Reid in breach of a community order issued by Bradford and Keighley magistrates in October last year for burgling a police capture house.
Reid’s barrister, Abigail Langford, said he knew he was getting a jail sentence.
Judge Benson said Reid had been committing offences since 1995.
