North Yorkshire County Council remains in overall Conservative control following yesterday’s election count.
The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats lost one seat each, with Labour gaining six and Ukip two.
There are now six fewer independent candidates. The overall results were: Conservative, 45 seats; Liberal Democrat, eight; Labour, seven; Independent, eight; Liberal two, and Ukip two.
