A 32-year-old man who gave his brother’s name when he was stopped by the police for using a phone when driving has been sentenced to a community order with 130 hours of unpaid work.
Atique Khan’s brother Adeel was summoned to the magistrates court but the deception was uncovered when the defendant’s fingerprint was found on the fixed penalty notice, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Khan, of Ewart Street, Great Horton, Bradford, pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice on March 21 last year.
His barrister, Nikki Peers, said Khan was doing very well on a community order imposed in February for laundering £150,000.
He was carer for his sick wife and his arrest for the mobile phone offence came after he was sentenced for the earlier matter.
