The family of a Silsden boy who was stillborn have raised at least £1,650 for Airedale Hospital labour ward.
The relatives of Toby Thomas Watson arranged a fun event called Toby’s Day, which was held at Silsden Methodist Church.
About 200 people attended and enjoyed refreshments, home-made cakes, a bric-a-brac stall and a raffle. There was also face painting, hair braiding, non-permanent tattooing and a ‘guess the name of the teddy’ contest.
Among those present were Toby’s parents Fiona and Stewart, and his young brothers Matthew and Ethan, who ran the bric-a-brac stall. Toby was stillborn on December 8 last year, and money collected at the fun day last Saturday will go towards providing a room for bereaved parents at the labour ward. Toby’s aunt, Caroline Patterson, said: “We were overwhelmed by the response.”
