Patrons and supporters of the Brighouse and Rastrick Band helped make its open day a great success.
The event, at Finkil Street, attracted about 100 people.
Hundreds of photographs dating from as far back as 1885, four years after its formation, showed a detailed history of the band which was originally known as Brighouse and Rastrick Temperance Band. A host of trophies were also on show including the coveted Belle Vue Trophy which the band won outright in 1934 after winning the competition for three consecutive years. Dean Redfern, musical director of the forthcoming new Brighouse and Rastrick Youth Band was at the open day to talk to prospective players.
Young musicians between 12 and 18 years old will be invited to a similar session in the band room on today between 10am and 2pm.
Brighouse and Rastrick Band will be performing at the Central Methodist Church on June, 1, as part of the Brighouse Business Initiative 1940 weekend.
Tickets are available from Ryecorn Whole Foods or by contacting Graham Ward on (01484) 712355.
