Businessman Mohammed Saeed, 55, who flouted planning rules to run an illegal indoor market in Bradford, was today fined £50,000 and ordered to pay £38,000 prosecution costs by a judge at Bradford Crown Court.
His son Khalid, 27, was fined £4,000.
The defendants, both of Leeds, were convicted yesterday of two charges of contravening a Bradford Council Stop Notice to prevent them from retail trading by runing the Tradex market at the Beckside Business Centre in Beckside Road, Lidget Green.
They were given six months to pay by Judge John Potter. He told Mohammed Saeed that he faces 18 months imprisonment in default and Khalid Saeed two months in jail.
