The Independent Police Complaints Commission has said it will not be investigating a Cleckheaton crash that injured two police officers. The pair had to be cut free from their vehicle after it was in collision with a stolen car and then ploughed into a bail hostel at 3am on Tuesday. They, and two suspects, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The crash happened as the police BMW was searching for an Audi A3 wanted by police.

The police car and Audi collided at the junction of Bradford Road, Northgate and Scott Lane.

A spokesman for the IPCC said: “We are content with the police doing their own investigation. We don’t feel we need to be involved in it at this stage.”
