A man who stole £2,000 of Yorkshire Stone flagstones has been fined £460.
Danny Turner, 22, of North Cliffe Avenue, Thornton, pleaded guilty to taking more than 40 slabs from Prospect Mill in Thornton Road, Bradford, when he appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court.
PC Cheryl Johnson carried out an investigation after receiving an anonymous tip-off from a member of the public, who said that the man had been seen moving a large quantity of flagstones in his garden.
PC Johnson attended the address and further inquiries led her to discover that the stone had been stolen from the disused mill.
The stone was identified by its owner and has now been returned.
Inspector Andy Croasdale, of North Bradford Police, said: “This is an excellent result and shows that we will literally leave no stone unturned and act on all the information that is available to us to pursue criminals in the area.”
Turner was also made subject of a community order and an 8pm to 6am curfew. His fine was broken down into £400 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
