A grandma standing up to nuisance quad-bikers on a Bradford estate claims her cars have been targeted in an acid attack.

Defiant Elaine Booth said today's attack in a layby outside her house on Broadstone Way, Holme Wood, has only made her more determined to fight her corner.

The 52-year-old last month told the Telegraph & Argus about nuisance quad and off-road bikers that were plaguing Holme Wood. She approached the T&A after one drove at her and her two-year-old grandson.

She was threatened and called a grass in the aftermath of the story, and now her property has been targeted.

Police said her Land Rover Discovery and her husband’s Mitsubishi Space Wagon were sprayed with acid at 2.15am.

The substance penetrated through to the vehicles’ metal.

Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Mrs Booth said: “We don’t regret standing up to them - this has just made us more adamant, to be honest.

“We kind of expected this sort of thing, but we won’t give up.

“I was gutted and fuming about the car. But then later on I thought ‘we are getting to them because they wouldn’t do something like this otherwise’.”

The Mitsubishi also had its rear and side windows smashed on Tuesday, she said.

Mrs Booth also said “two lads” in a black Volkswagen Golf had been hooting its horn at her and shaking their heads, while another youth shouted from a car: “Do you like your car, you grass.”

But Mrs Booth said: “To be quite honest, they are idiots. I am getting a good look at them - they are old enough to know better.

“It is making me more determined everytime they do something.”

Mrs Booth also urged people to keep passing information to her, saying: “People are coming forward with information that I am passing onto the police. The information might not be relevant to me, but police seem quite pleased with it.

“It is happening slowly but surely, but they will not beat us.”

Sgt Adam Crisp, of the Tong and Wyke neighbourhood policing team, said: "This has caused a considerable amount of damage to the vehicles which will likely cost hundreds of pounds to repair.

"It is unclear at this stage what the motive was, however; this kind of behaviour will certainly not be accepted nor tolerated in Bradford.”
