Measures to avoid snarl-ups at a notorious road junction on the main road through Steeton are being brought forward.
Bradford Council plans to paint a yellow box on Skipton Road opposite the Thornhill Road junction in the next 12 weeks.
The hatched markings will ban vehicles from blocking the junction and help drivers to get in and out of the large Thornhill Road estate.
The yellow box was planned as part of improvements tied in with the building of a housing estate off Thornhill Road.
District councillor Andrew Mallinson and Steeton parish councillors asked for the yellow box to be brought forward.
Coun Mallinson said: “As traffic regularly backs up from Steeton traffic lights at busy times of the day it was becoming harder for local residents to go about their daily business.
“People had to face long periods of time at the junction waiting for someone to let them into the flow of traffic on Skipton Road.”
