People with a head for heights are being sought for a daredevil charity stunt on Saturday.
The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Dale Smith, is looking for volunteers to abseil down the Jurys Inn building in Thornton Road, even though the vertigo-sufferer won’t be taking part himself.
2013 is the tenth year of the annual stunt. Proceeds will go towards Missing People, which helps the families of the estimated 250,000 people who run away or go missing every year.
Staff from several hotels and restaurants have signed up, along with a team dubbed the ‘Dare Devil Divas’ from Bradford Council’s regeneration and culture department, and a group of Sea Cadets from TSS Aurora.
Coun Smith said: “I will be there to cheer on as many of them as possible. I did admit at the start of my civic year that this was one event I would not be taking part in as I am too scared of heights.”
