A group for armed forces veterans and their families has a fresh organising committee and is keen to attract new members.

Mary Lister, vice-chairman of Keighley Veterans Social Fund, said membership only costs £5 a year.

“We’ve been going for about eight years and we’re open to all ex-forces people and their families – it’s a social thing so members don’t have to be involved with the Royal British Legion,” she said.

“We’ve arranged trips and Christmas parties and want to keep this going. We can also help members get advice from other organisations if they need it.”

The group has been meeting once a month in Central Hall, Alice Street, and its next meeting at this venue is on Friday May 24 at 1pm.

People interested should contact Mrs Lister on (01535) 215711 or the group chairman Tommy Gibson on (01535) 600054.
