Staff at Keighley Post Office took part in a walk-out in protest at plans to turn the facility into a franchise.

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) staged the action from 1pm on Monday.

The Post Office said the Towngate branch is running at a loss, so they need to seek a partner to ensure its viability. Some 150 applications have been received nationwide.

David Bowmaker, territorial representative for the CWU, said: “We’ve been getting great support from members of the union in Keighley.”
