A Keighley school that helped raise more than £1,300 when 70 of its pupils took part in a charity event has received an award for its efforts.

Oakbank School had most participants in the Keighley Big 10k run, on March 10, an annual event that raises money for the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope. The fundraising and team awards for the race were handed out at the school last week.

Oakbank's ‘team three’, Cammy Dewar, Tom Baker, Tommy Horton, Joe Rundle and Sam Adams, received the award for the fastest team of five. They completed the race in a combined time of slightly more than four hours. Also winners were Acorn Stairlifts ‘Trade Stairlifts’ team who, as a corporate team of five, raised £2,836 with the company as a whole raising £6,800.

A new award for the best duo was presented to Simon Hill and Robyn Brown who raised £1,045. Presentations were made by John Dennis, of Sport Keighley.
