Police are investigating new leads in the hunt for a Bradford fugitive after making a televised appeal.
Yasar Hussain, 31, absconded last November on the first day of a Crown Court trial into money-laundering and perverting the course of justice in relation to a fake drinks scam based on the Duracell brand. He was convicted in his absence, but has not been found.
West Yorkshire Police made a renewed appealed for information on his whereabouts on the BBC Crimewatch’s programme. Detective Sergeant Jason Barron, of West Yorkshire Police’s Economic Crime Team, said: “As a result of last night's Crimewatch, we have received several calls and are looking into these new leads.
“Yasar Hussain played his part in a well-organised and convincing scam that conned a number of foreign businesses out of hundreds of thousands of pounds. He is a wanted man whom we feel is still in the UK and we are determined to catch him and see him sentenced for his crimes.”
