A by-election will be held in the Liversedge and Gomersal ward of Kirklees Council, following the resignation of a stalwart councillor.
Councillor Margaret Bates (Con), a former Mayor of Kirklees, has stepped down for health reasons.
Candidates are now invited to register their intention to stand in the election.
Nominations will close at noon on May 16 and the by-election will be held on June 13.
Applications for postal votes will close at 5pm on May 29, as will applications to register to vote.
