A Parliamentary motion has been presented to Yeadon Liberal Club to help mark its centenary.
Liberal Democrat MP Greg Mulholland joined officials and councillors at the club for its centenary celebrations.
And he revealed that the anniversary would be officially commemorated in parliament. Yeadon Liberal Club had previously been in another building on the High Street but it was re-housed in new premises in 1913 – at a time when there was a Liberal Government with Herbert Henry Asquith as Prime Minister.
Leeds North West MP, Mr Mulholland, joined by Otley and Yeadon councillors Ryk Downes and Colin Campbell paid tribute to the history of the club and to the role it continues to play in Yeadon.
The MP said: “It has been a pleasure to be part of Yeadon Liberal Club’s centenary celebrations and to celebrate the role it has played in the community in Yeadon for the last hundred years.”
