Keighley disability group People First has launched a campaign to ensure that Passport to Leisure cards are not scrapped.
Members are researching how often other disabled people use the cards, which offer discounts on leisure facilities. People First campaigners David Pickles and Tracey Line have asked people with learning disabilities and their carers to fill in survey forms.
They will send their findings to Bradford councillors who are investigating whether the scheme should be kept, scrapped or replaced. Passport to Leisure cards have been available for 20 years to people on benefits, students, over-60s and disabled people. A huge decline in usage prompted the council to suggest withdrawing the scheme, or updating it with smart cards offering greater benefits.
