US folk duo Steve and Ruth Smith bring their blend of Appalachian Americana music with Celtic roots to Bradford's Topic Folk Club next month.
The performers from the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina play a range of traditional instruments, featuring hammered dulcimer, Appalachian mountain dulcimer, guitar and clawhammer banjo.
Their music and songs have been described as being "reminiscent of the old homeplace, where family, faith and a sense of place are the foundation of heritage and traditions", says the club's Anthony Charnock.
Steve and Ruth, both of Scots-Irish descent, have been performing together for more than 35 years across the United States and around the world as cultural representatives of the Appalachian region.
They will be at the Topic Folk Club at the Bradford Irish Club in Rebecca Street, on Thursday, May 16 at 8.30 pm. Entry is £6 on the door.
The Topic Folk Club is billed as the world’s longest running and surviving folk club.
