A group of young people will explore the hidden dragon as they perform a karate fundraising challenge.
Bradford’s Hidden Dragon Karate-Do club has organised the event and will put 100 students through their paces asking them to perform a three-hour ‘Katathon’ in aid of Bradford Down Syndrome Support and Training, inspired by one of their pupils who suffers from the condition.
On Sunday, July 14, students from beginner level to those with black belts, will perform Kata, which is a routine of martial art movements, which will demonstrate the artistic side to the sport. Co-owner of the club Carlton Waumsley, who runs classes in Birkenshaw and Morley, said: “We wanted to set the club a challenge to raise money for charity and chose this particular cause as one of our students suffers from Down Syndrome.”
The challenge will take place at the Morley leisure Centre, in Queensway between 11am and 2pm.
Spectators are welcome to watch on the day and donations can be made with all proceeds going towards the charity.
