An 11-year-old girl, of Heaton, Bradford, has made it through to the national finals of a spelling contest.
Bradford Grammar pupil Maryam Nisa (pictured front left) was one of four from the school who competed in the regional final of the Routes into Languages Spelling Bee in Hull.
Competing against 200 pupils from 32 schools, they had to spell as many randomly-selected words in either French or German as they could in a minute.
Maryam came in the top four in the German contest, meaning she will represent Yorkshire at the final in Cambridge. The other Bradford pupils who took part were Katie Elmore, 11, of Rawdon, Zain Hussain, 12, of Heaton, and Aditya Anand, 12, of Cottingley, Bingley, who are also pictured.
