A new pub is to open in Yeadon with the creation of 20 jobs.
The Wetherspoon pub will open on the High Street, on the site of The Clothiers pub which can trace its recorded history back to 1822.
Pub operator JD Wetherspoon has spent £1.25 million re-developing the premises, which will maintain links with the site’s past by taking the name The Clothier’s Arms.
The name is a reminder that Yeadon is a former mill town which specialised in the production of woollen cloth. The Clothiers was an abbreviation of The Clothiers Arms, by which it was known throughout its long history.
The pub will open on Tuesday, May 7, and will be managed by Craig Smith.
Photographs and information boards relating to the history of the area and local characters, will be displayed in the pub.
