A club for disabled young athletes in Keighley has been saved.
Keighley Town Council will provide £5,000 a year for the next four years to cover the costs of the Keighley Disability Sports Academy. The club, which meets every Wednesday at University Academy Keighley, gives youngsters taster sessions in a wide range of sports.
It also nurtures young people training for the Special Olympics at national and international level.
Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure, which runs the academy, received a lottery grant of £140,000 in 2008. The money ran out last month leaving the charity to find the £12,000 a year cost of running the Keighley club. Members are being asked to contribute and it is hoped fundraising will cover the shortfall.
