Pupils will be wishing good luck, or viel glück in German, to a fellow student heading to Cambridge to compete in a national German spelling competition.
Maryam Nisa, 11, from Heaton will represent Bradford Grammar School and Yorkshire when she competes on July 5.
She was one of four children from the school, in Keighley Road, who took part in the regional round of the Routes into Languages Spelling Bee in Hull.
Maryam, Katie Elmore, 11, from Rawdon; Zain Hussain, 12, from Heaton and Aditya Anand, 12, from Cottingley, each had to spell as many words in French or German as they could in a minute, randomly picked from a list of 150.
Maryam will compete against winners from across the country.
