Bradford Bulls players donned their swimming gear during the Marie Curie Cancer Care Swimathon at Bradford University pool. Bulls players Heath L’Estrange, Brett Kearney (right), Adrian Purtell, Elliott Whitehead and James Donaldson took part, along with seven members of the public, three of which were children.
One adult participant, Leanne Duffy, said the event had personal meaning. She said: “My father-in-law died last February and he was looked after by the hospice.
“My 14-year-old daughter, Megan, was very close to him and she is also a big Bradford Bulls fan so she is coming along with the rest of the family to support me.”
The event raises money for the charity which has a hospice in Bradford. It provides care to local people with terminal illnesses.
