Children have been learning about the benefits of putting pen to paper and writing letters rather than e-mails.
Staff from Bradford-based Hallmark Cards visited pupils at Heaton Primary School as part of National Stationery Week, which runs from April 22 to 28.
Pupils were taught how to develop letter-writing skills and the importance of sentiment and expression by Hallmark’s ‘head of emotion’ Emma Bragg.
She said: “In a world where modern technology and text talk are part of everyday life for many children, we wanted to remind and educate young pupils about how important basic letter writing knowledge is.”
The company also gave the school some stationery and a specially designed letter box.
Deputy head teacher Moira McGregor, said: “Despite the digital world that we live in, letter writing is a lifelong skill that will continue to be taught for many years.”
