Cricketing stars of the future could be discovered through a new drive to get children playing the sport.
Great Horton Church Cricket Club has teamed up with Yorkshire Cricket Board and the Bradford West Area Co-ordinator's Office to turn more youngsters into cricketers. And if there are any stars in the making, they may even be headhunted for the club’s junior teams.
Coaches from the cricket club will be holding assemblies at seven primary schools in Toller – Girlington, Whetley, Margaret McMillan, St Cuthbert’s, St Phillip’s, Lilycroft and Lister.
They will tell children about the benefits of taking part in sport, hold coaching sessions in April and May, then organise an inter-schools competition in June. The winning school will then get to represent Bradford West in a district-wide competition.
