A pair of year eight pupils at South Craven School have demonstrated their creativity and sound business sense by winning a Dragon’s Den-style contest.
Charlotte Dalton and Susan Lloyd made up the team Cakes4U, one of six teams taking part.
Only three of these ‘businesses’ reached the point where they were awarded an investment of £15 to develop their ideas.
A spokesman for the school said Charlotte and Susan presented a strong business plan for their venture, which secured them their initial investment.
She added: “In true entrepreneurial spirit they contacted local supermarkets and, having explained the challenge before them, asked for the ingredients to be donated.
“When Tesco heard that the profits were to go to the charity Help4Heroes they agreed, which left the girls able to use the investment money to pay for packaging and advertising.”
